Next: More Shakespeare! Also, Dan's Class Show
Thanks to everyone for a fantastic second weekend of La Ronde and for an amazingly productive strike.
The next production in the Anteroom will be Dan's Mott CC class show, Sex, Lies, and Other Distractions. It will be a night of five short plays. Only two performances - don't miss it!
Saturday, November 21 is the FREE Stage Combat Workshop at the Flint Community Players Workshop (behind K-Mart on Miller Road and Ballenger). This workshop is in preparation for our joint production of Romeo and Juliet. Note: while it is freeeeeee, please let us know if you plan to show up so that we can be sure we have enough stage weapons on hand and don't have to resort to real swords. Wear something movable but not snaggable.
Speaking of R&J, auditions for the FCT/FCP joint production of our next Shakespeare will be December 7th and 8th (Monday and Tuesday) at 7 PM at the FCP Workshop. If you can't make it, contact me or Dan Gerics to arrange an alternate audition time. Performances will be in mid-March at Bower Theatre (neat!). All roles are open! Dan Gerics will direct, and Steve Mokofsky will do fight choreography.
More information can be found at the FCT website at www.flintcitytheatre.com; you can also call me or Dan.

Run-Through on Wednesday
Wednesday's rehearsal:
6:45 Run-through at the Good Beans Cafe. I will be taking line notes on Friday's run-through, but if I notice anything that you've been consistently leaving out/changing, I'll let you know after Wednesday's rehearsal. Review your lines for Friday!
We will be running with full music (as full as I can get it, anyway) and props. If you are missing anything, let me know. If you have any questions about translations or weird things in the script, ask me at one of our breaks - I will probably be able to find out for you within half an hour.

New Link - Pictures of Vienna
Good morning!
I've added a link to our Useful Links section. Strawberry Fields is Merisi's photo blog of (mostly) Vienna, Austria. There are lots of pictures of flowers, and everything is modern, but a lot of the other pictures might give you a sense of the area you're living in. I'd ignore the poetry if I were you and just look at the pictures. A semi-condensed version, Vienna for Beginners, is at http://merisi.blogspot.com/ - this has some nice pics of people and landscapes.
Enjoy!
Ed.: Link has been removed from sidebar, but here it is: http://www.strowberryfield.blogspot.com/

La Ronde run-through and Scream tech
Tonight's rehearsals are both at Mott Community College.
La Ronde is in 1041 Mott Memorial Building at 6:45.
Scream is in 1031 MMC (Dan's office) at 8 PM.
If you don't know how to get to the room, we'll meet in the public parking lot (Lot E, I think) at 6:15 to walk up together. If you head down Court Street from the direction of the Good Beans/UMF, there's a giant Mott sign just after Central. Watch for it after you pass Crapo Street. Turn left here (Bob thinks the road is named Hoffman - there's no light, and you can only turn left).
Once you're on the street, the parking lot will be the first one on your right. It says Public Parking. If you have any problems finding this, call me or Bob.

as promised
Thanks to everyone for an amazing run! As promised, here are those first pictures that the photographer sent to us:

I'll send out an email once I have the full batch in hand. If anyone knows whether high- or low-resolution images would be better for our purposes, please drop me an email or comment here.
Don't forget: Dan's Wedding Gig with special guest, Kristina!

I will continue to post audition notices, etc. on this site; if you're on our email list, you'll also get word of happenings that way.
Hope to see all of you in another show!
Update Sept. 3: There are still a few picture CDs at the cafe for anyone who hasn't had a chance to pick up the pictures yet - contact me with any questions.

Second Dress - Tuesday, June 2
Thanks to everyone for being very cool about the weird gun situation last night. Sorry we all had to cram into the basement, but we wouldn't want to lose any actors this close to opening.
For those of you who weren't able to stick around too late last night, see me around call today for line notes. I have pages and pages with no marks on them - this is excellent! Call tonight is 7 PM again. If you notice anything about costume/props/set today that is weird or troublesome, let me know - we can add glow tape or wash anything that smells musty.
If anyone has a non-precious bible, could you lend it to us? I'd appreciate it.

First Dress - Monday, June 1
Hello, everyone, and welcome to dress week. You may want to show up before call from now on so that you can change in the bathroom rather than the basement, but that's up to you. Call tonight is 7 PM. We're going to try to run at 7:30 rather than 8:00. We'll be in show conditions tonight, so let me know if anything weird happens or if you need anything in the basement that's not down there.
Those of you who are bringing your own items as costume pieces should leave them in the basement after tonight (unless you are taking them home to wash them).

Tech Weekend
Saturday is the build. If you are free, we would love for you to show up to help us put together the stage and house. We don't expect to keep anyone for more than three or four hours. Thanks!
Tech Sunday, on the other hand, is not optional. Call is noon at the cafe; the run will begin at 12:30 (barring technical problems). We will do a full run-through; it's possible that we'll work some entrances and exits afterward.
You may want to bring any costume items that you are supplying to the cafe on Sunday - that way, you can't forget them on Monday.
Friday, May 29, 2009
Friday, May 29 - Sunset Village
Tonight's rehearsal (as you could tell by the post title) will be over in the commons room at Sunset Village. Give me a call if you get lost. 6 PM, everyone - short announcements and then the run.
If any of you would like to come to the build tomorrow (much appreciated if you do!), we will be meeting at the cafe at noon. We have tools, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them. We will be doing minimal construction, but there are plenty of other tasks to go around.
Thursday, May 28, 2009
Thursday, May 28
Today is another full run-through! Everyone is called at 6 PM. We'll have announcements and questions first, and then we'll set the curtain call; I expect we'll start the run at 6:15.
Thanks for bearing with my many notes last night. I'll probably do the same for the rest of the week to get messages to you during the run. If you can't read my writing on anything, ask me during an entrance/exit if possible (no one will be calling for line then).
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
Plan for Wednesday, May 27 - OFF BOOK!
Call tonight is 6 PM for EVERYONE. We'll be running the whole show. Remember, tonight is our off book date. I'll be on book from now till our dress rehearsals.
Starting today, every rehearsal will be a full run-through. Everyone is called every night; I'll be a stickler about time for the rest of the run, so if anything happens that will make you late, give me a call. Thanks!
Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Error! Hey! Error! (and plan for Memorial Day)
I made a mistake on the schedule - tomorrow (Monday, May 25), rehearsal will NOT be at the cafe. It will be over in the courtyard at Sunset Village, just behind the commons room where we rehearsed on Friday. Give me a call if you have any questions.
Call is 6 PM; we will be running Green, 2.2, and 3.4. Called are Orsino, Curio, Valentine, Viola, the Captain, Feste, Malvolio, Olivia, Maria, the four Court ladies, Fabian, Sirs Toby and Andrew, Antonio, and the Officers. The plan is to run the fights after the scenes.
If you're late and you don't see anyone in the courtyard (or you see lots and lots of strangers), give Feste or Viola a call - we may retreat to V's apartment.
I won't be there tomorrow, but I've handed the props over to Feste - let him know if you need one. Thanks!

Searching
Hello, all -
I'm still looking for a few props. If you have any of these things, please let me know. Thanks!
- Sheath for hunting knife, etc. that you don't want back - I would have to destroy it.
- Rosaries, crosses, and other religious paraphernalia
- Astrolabe, spyglass, manila rope, or other seafaring stuff
- Vintage women's hats
- Glass Coke bottles
- Gel ice pack
- Vial or shaker for holy water
- Tophat
I will have all props or rehearsal stand-ins at tonight's rehearsal. If there's any prop you think you are missing, let me know.

Plan for Friday, May 22
Hope everyone had a fun day off!
We will be doing a full run-through today. Everyone is called at 6 PM. If you're off book, fantastic! Just let me know if you'll be calling for lines. Remember: the off book deadline is next Wednesday (the 27th).
Today's rehearsal will also be over at Sunset Village. There's one change to the directions - they renamed 3rd Ave (it's now University).
North on Grand Traverse (right out of the Good Beans parking lot)
West (Left) on University Ave - stay on University, which curves right to become Sunset Drive
Left on Sheffield Ave
Left again into the parking lot at Sunset Village - there's a sign for Office (it says Residential Parking Only, but you can ignore that).
Park and go in through the door marked "Office" - walk in and to the left.
Call me, Bob, Dan, or Megan if you have any trouble!

Directions and Plan for Wednesday, May 20
Tonight's rehearsal will be off-site in the commons room at Sunset Village. The easiest way to get there from the cafe is:
North on Grand Traverse (right out of the Good Beans parking lot)
West (Left) on 3rd Ave - stay on 3rd, which curves right to become Sunset Drive
Left on Sheffield Ave
Left again into the parking lot at Sunset Village.
Park and go in through the door marked "Office" - walk straight ahead.
I'll try to have a sign up just in case. If you happen to come in off of Bradley Ave, you'll just have a bit of a walk. Call if you have any trouble!
We will be running Green (1.1, 1.2, 1.4, 2.4), 2.2, and 2.4. Call is 6 PM for Orsino, Curio, Valentine, Viola, Captain, Feste, Malvolio, Fabian, Toby, Antonio, Olivia, Maria, Andrew, Court Ladies 1-4, and Officers 1 and 2 (Antonio will be late).
Plan for Tuesday, May 19
Tonight, we will be working Pink, Blue, and 2.5 (1.3, 1.5, 2.3, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2, and 4.2). Call is 6 PM for Toby, Maria, Andrew, Court Ladies 1-4, Feste, Malvolio, Fabian, Olivia, and Viola.
Liz will probably be late today, so if you are off book, let Greg know or arrange to have someone who's not in the scene stand by on lines. Also, if you need your rehearsal props, they are downstairs on the black rolling cart (Bob knows where this is). Thanks!
Because we ran so many more scenes yesterday than we planned to, we may alter tonight's plan a little - we may work some small parts of scenes (monologues and specific moments) before running the full scenes.

Plan for Monday, May 18
Hope everyone had a pleasant weekend!
Monday's rehearsal will be Act 5 - call is 6:00 at the Good Beans Cafe for Feste, Fabian, Orsino, Viola, Curio, Olivia, Antonio, Officers, Priest, Andrew, Toby, Sebastian, Malvolio, and Fabian. We originally had the Court in Act 5, but we will probably cut you out of the act, since the stage is already very crowded. You are not called, but you can come in if you want to watch/hang out.
The musicians will be staying later to work on some of the songs. Those of you who are in the fights, our fight director will be here on Monday, so if you think you might want to rehearse the fights with him in your downtime, wear movable clothes and closed-toe shoes.
Please remember to bring your costume items today so our designer can look at them.

Plan for Friday, May 15
We will be rehearsing outside in Angela's backyard. We'll meet at the cafe and car-pool over promptly at 6, so if you think you will be late, call for directions! If the day turns out to be stormy, we will decide on an alternate plan, but that will still start with leaving from the cafe at 6.
After announcements, we will have a stumble-through of the full show. Everyone is called except Curio and Fabian.

Etext Resources
We've added a couple of etext links in the left column. The University of Virginia library has the Globe edition of Shakespeare's plays, so we've added the link for the full library and for Twelfth Night.
We're using the Arden version, so if you notice any discrepancies, go with our script or ask Liz to look into it.

Welcome to the Online Call Board
FCT's Call Board can now be reached wherever you have internet! We will update this blog with changes to the rehearsal schedule, general notes, and anything else that you would normally find on the call board. A few things that you would find on the board at the Good Beans (handwritten notes, pictures, etc.) may not make it on here, but the vital information will.
Note: this is not a replacement for the call board at the Good Beans. However, the online call board will be correct as of 6:00 PM each night. Anything added to the standard call board after 6 PM might not be updated online till the next day.
Also, commenting on this blog if you have a question or conflict does not replace calling the stage manager. If you have an urgent question or think you will be late, be sure to call!
